While everybody’s looking forward to a sweet long holiday, the folks running online food-ordering marketplace foodpanda know they’ll be having their hands full with hundreds of orders for Chinese New Year feasts at home.
Having the experience of gathering food requests over the Lunar New Year, they found out that Chinatown’s Mouth Restaurant is the most popular eatery during the period, with Yum Cha coming in at second place and Eight Treasures at third.
As for dishes, Yusheng remains the top entrée ordered — for obvious celebratory reasons. Weirdly enough, people really like to order Hawaiian pizza and pad thai too during the Chinese New Year period.
“The research highlights the huge increase we see each year in people who want to dine in with their families and enjoy the long weekend” says Emma Heap, Managing Director for foodpanda Singapore.
“Chinese New Year is always a time where more customers order from foodpanda to remove the hassle of going out and enable them to spend more time with loved ones.”
