A tragic accident occurred yesterday afternoon along the Kranji Expressway (KJE), where a stray tire fell off the back of a trailer truck and hit a motorcyclist.

The impact knocked down the unwitting victim, killing him right there and then.

A dashcam video detailing the accident was sent to The Straits Times, which can be seen below. Warning: graphic content ahead.

It’s fairly clear that the 57-year-old motorist skidded on the road for a brief fraction of a moment after colliding with the tire – which seems to have bounced over from the opposite side of the road – before toppling over completely, scattering fragments of the bike across the highway.

Unlike the other guy in Brazil who survived after getting rammed unceremoniously in the back of the head by a flying tire, the motorcyclist’s fate wasn’t as fortunate. After receiving the call around 3.50pm, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics alerted to the accident pronounced him dead at the scene.

The accident resulted in heavy congestion of traffic from KJE all the way to the entrance of the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), which only ended around 8pm, according to the Land Transport Authority.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.
