Mother who threw son from Ang Mo Kio block acquitted, three decades later

Yeo Kee Cheng, alias Ng Puay Hong, has been acquitted by the High Court for throwing her six-year-old son off a block of flats in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and killing him, back in November 1984.

Channel NewsAsia report reveals the acquittal came after the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) recommended that she be granted an unconditional discharge, and after the facts and circumstances surrounding the case had been considered.

Yeo, who was discovered to be suffering from chronic schizophrenia, was confined to Changi Women’s Prison after the incident, but was later transferred to Woodbridge Hospital, which is now IMH.
