A horrified mother has taken to Facebook to recount an encounter her 4-year-old son allegedly faced last Tuesday — getting roughed up by a hairdresser while getting a haircut.

Now, we don’t know for sure if it was just a case of a mother being overly protective of her son, but from the video captured, it does look like the hairdresser at Jurong Point mall’s HI SALON outlet was a wee bit aggressive while giving the boy a haircut. Here you can see the lady gripping and handling the toddler’s head with some force — an uncomfortable sight for his mother, who can be seen stopping the hairdresser from going further. Before the video started rolling, the mother claimed that the lady was even rougher with the boy, using a comb to pull hard on his hair.

This is what the mother wrote about the incident with her son, Kaeden.

“She was so rough that I have to ask her if she can be more gentle. She did not answer me. I went over to ask Kaeden if he felt pain and he said yes — but she still continued shaving his hair in her way. The video shows how she handled my boy’s head with force.”

But as anyone who’s undergone a haircut as children (i.e all of us) would know, barbers and hairdressers have to handle our heads in such an aggro manner to stop us from fidgeting and get the shaving angles right. According to the mother, however, the only reason why her son was fidgeting was allegedly due to the distressing treatment by the hairdresser.

“…Kaeden is not playing or fidgeting during the session. He tried his best to sit as still as possible but he can’t because he tried to move away from the pain this aunty caused,” she wrote, adding that the haircut resumed with a different lady.

Netizens who claimed to be former patrons of HI SALON chimed in with their own bad experiences at the shop.

A search on Google reveals that they’re not the only ones.

A look at the HI SALON Facebook page reveals that their (allegedly) horrible service goes back years.

Perhaps one should know how troubled the place is if the head of HI SALON actually gave a five-star review of his own company.
