Morning train service on Circle Line delayed due to signal fault again

Sorry, commuters on the Circle Line. The signal fault returned once again to delay people from getting to school and work this morning. The last time the Circle Line experienced that was on September 2, the fifth straight day of delays due to the signalling fault.

Around 7.37am today, SMRT tweeted that commuters should expect an additional 10 minutes of travelling time between Pasir Panjang and One North stations due to the signalling fault. After two minutes, the fault was apparently cleared, but by then, the trains and stations were backlogged.

Then at 8.04am, another tweet surfaced about the trains moving slower towards HarbourFront station. Five minutes later, commuters were told to expect an extra 10 minutes of travelling time from Botanic Gardens to HarbourFront — that waiting time turned into 20 minutes, and then half an hour.

Later on, train service came to a halt between Botanic Gardens and Marymount, and that turned into no train service between Botanic Gardens and Serangoon in both directions.

That’s a heck of a lot of disruptions for one day.

Free bus services are being offered at all Circle Line stations. The matter is under investigation.
