The Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team (SingCERT) revealed on Feb. 19 that more than 80 websites have been defaced, three of which belong to the Reform Party (RP).
The statement was made after RP Secretary-General Kenneth Jeyaretnam’s rather shocking Facebook post, which revealed that the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) had been the one to notify him of the online attack, and that his wife had received an email threatening to kill his son the day before:
An earlier post on the RP Facebook page shows that their website was taken down after the attack, apparently a government order to hosting company New Media Express.
In the statement, the Team said it has notified the defaced websites so they may take necessary action and that no government websites were affected.
SingCERT has also advised all businesses and individuals to take extra caution with their cyber security and to get help from GoSafe Online if needed.
