Mobile crane ploughs through POSB branch in Woodlands

We’d like to think that this was all part of a daring heist, but real life ain’t so dramatic — a POSB branch in old Woodlands now has a huge gaping hole at its side due to an vehicular accident.

This wasn’t just any simple vehicle — this was a mobile construction crane that ploughed into the side of the bank after the driver lost control while making a turn. Channel NewsAsia reports that no one was injured in the accident, and the driver escaped with a bit of whiplash.

The mobile crane was on its way to a construction site and had made a right turn around 6.30am this morning along Woodlands Centre Road when it skidded, overturned and smashed into the POSB branch. The damage was massive — a few motorcycles parked nearby were crushed under the crane as it bulldozed its way into several structures.

The driver was helped out by a bystander who opened the vehicle’s door. As for the residents living above the bank, they woke up to a pretty dramatic scene, and now will have to worry if their homes are still safe to live in considering the structural damage underneath.
