Stalkers, take note.
Singapore Police Force issued a reminder on Sunday that Changi Airport’s transit areas are gazetted as a protected place and it is an offence to enter it with your boarding pass if you don’t intend to board your flight.
People “should only be there for the purpose of traveling to their next destinations,” it said on Facebook.
How serious is this threat? Since January 2015, nine cases of misuse of boarding pass have been reported and 13 people have been arrested in connection to offences under the Protected Areas and Protected Places Act.
We’re not sure why this is an offence, but it sure can be an inconvenience. Once your boarding pass is issued to you, your name appears in the plane’s official list of passengers once, and your flight will be delayed if you don’t show up at the departure gate.
We’re also not sure why anyone would go through the humiliation of being frisked just to hang out inside the airport? According to the police advisory, those who abuse their boarding pass tend to enter the transit areas to meet friends or celebrities.
K-Pop and Jay Chou fans, we’re looking at you.
