Over the past couple of days, netizens have been riled up by an image that’s gone viral on social media: Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin congratulated national marathoner Soh Rui Yong on his recent win at the SEA Games — but accidentally scribbled the name Rui En. You know, the local actress who had a literal run-in with the law.
Outrage! Especially since Minister Tan’s also the President of the Singapore National Olympic Council, so why should he of all people make such a glaring mistake that he didn’t even bother to hide.

Turns out, it was nothing to get their jimmies rustled about. To quell the angry reactions, Soh (@runsohfast on Instagram) clarified that it’s all just an inside joke between him and the minister:

Hurr hurr, the joke is that both the athlete and the actress have the same name “Rui”.
