Michelle Chong’s latest release, Lulu The Movie, takes 3rd spot at local box office

Thought about giving Lulu The Movie a miss? Perhaps you’ll wanna think again. Michelle Chong’s latest film project, based on one of her more popular characters from TV show The Noose, seems to be doing pretty well against Hollywood productions at the local box office.

The comedy tells the rags-to-riches tale of Lulu (played by Chong herself), a girl from China who lands in Singapore and realises her online lover isn’t who she thought he would be. From KTV hostess to weather girl to fashionista, Lulu’s adventures have earned about $650,000 in the film’s first weekend after its release on November 24.

Taking third spot on the local box office charts, the movie was topped by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Disney’s Moana at first and second place respectively.
