The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore has asked airlines based here to review their risk assessment of conflict zones after a Malaysian Airlines jetliner was shot down from the sky over Ukraine last week.
The downing of the commercial plane carrying almost 300 passengers and crew has shocked the aviation industry, and has prompted calls for a re-think on assessing the threat to planes flying thousands of metres above fighting on the ground, according to Reuters.
It’s been revealed that Singapore Airlines was one of the heaviest users of the route before the tragic incident, along with other international carriers like Lufthansa and Qatar Airways.
