Mediacorp gets into the news satire game with ‘The Nooseflash’

With the surprise success of The Noose — MediaCorp Channel 5’s parody of local news programmes — the televisions series has spawned an editorial offshoot that follows much in the vein of satirical news publications The Onion and HumorFeed

The Nooseflash has already been launched to limited success, running satirical articles such as “World’s first ever milo dinosaur to be displayed at the new Natural History Museum”, “Country clubs brace for golf refugees” and “Commuter shocked after riding in taxi that doesn’t have a weird smell”. 

The arena of satirical news here however has already been filled up by the more successful New Nation, which can pretty much get away with a lot more confrontational content than The Nooseflash, who are managed under Mediacorp — and we all know that they can’t exactly be too risqué for fear of stepping on the government’s toes.
