Media Literacy Council’s campaign to use emojis for a better internet is really, really cringeworthy

In the latest iteration in a long tradition of government-sponsored campaigns, the Emoji Face Challenge is not giving us assurance that their causes should ever be taken seriously.

Bless their hearts, the Media Literacy Council really wanted this campaign to be associated with words such as ‘hip’, ‘relevant’ and ‘fun’; but the end result is something that’s considered ‘ugh’. Their solution to help create a better internet for all? Making some emojis, and inviting you to mimic them.

There are no words. But hey, here’s a classic emoji that always makes the internet a pleasant place.
