McNair murder: One suspect arrested, another on the run

A 25-year-old Indian natonal who is related to the murder of the topless decapitated woman found at the canal between McNair and St. George’s roads has been arrested.

According to TODAY’s live twitter feed, there are two suspects to the murder — the other having escaped Singapore on that day by bus via Woodlands checkpoint.

The suspect on the run, Harvinder Singh, is said to be a friend of the arrested and the husband of the woman, identified as 33-year-old Jasvinder Kaur.

Despite thoroughly searching through five tonnes of rubbish by 30 officers on the day of report at the Tuas incineration plant, the head and hands of the victim could not be found and the body was reported to be identified through forensics.

Kaur was an independent pass holder and was said to have arrived in Singapore in September.

No weapons were recovered so far and investigations are currently ongoing.
