Early Sunday morning, a collision between a McLaren sports car and a ComfortDelGro taxi in Yishun left both drivers injured. Police confirmed that they were notified of an accident involving a taxi and a car along Yishun Avenue 1, towards Yishun Avenue 8, at 3:59am.
The 27-year-old driver of the sports car and the 56-year-old cabbie — both men — were injured but conscious when they were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, according to the police.
TODAY noted that the taxi driver could step out of his vehicle and walk after the collision, while the sports car driver did not sustain life-threatening injuries. It is also believed that this was not a case of drink-driving.
Photos and videos circulating online showed the horrifying extent of the damage, with the red sports car and the blue taxi both badly banged up and surrounded by debris.
In case you didn’t know, a brand new McLaren sports car can set you back at least S$750,000 (US$550,499) in Singapore — and that’s excluding the Certificate of Entitlement (COE).
Investigations are ongoing.
