In an attempt to raise publicity about Fou-Dré Vodka, the brand’s distributor Delta Juliet Group published a parody webpage called ‘The Stratis Times‘ to bait people into clicking their link.
Crafted to look like an exact replica of the Straits Times website, the clearly fake article details a story about a 32 foot promotional Fou-Dre vodka bottle breaking apart during its installation at Raffles Green, spilling an estimated “200 liters of pomegranate vodka”.
Instead of links to other news content, ‘The Stratis Times’ features a plethora of promotional stories about the brand, lifestyle features and a prominent link to OnlineLiquourShop.SG, which the Delta Juliet Group runs.
A disclaimer was included at the bottom of the page, albeit a tiny one: “Disclaimer! This page has been created in fun. It is not real. It is in no way affiliated with any real news organisation or site. the page has been created by D. James for the purpose of having a giggle at his gullible yet well loved friends.”
