From March 20 onwards, you can use your contactless credit or debit cards by Mastercard on your daily commute to and from work or school. According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Singapore is the first country in Asia to test the Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) System for public transport.

Basically, that means your train and bus rides will be charged to your card bill, and you can track your journey or fare history on the TransitLink ABT Portal or Mobile Services app.

If you’re keen to ditch your EZ-link card, just register your interest with the portal from March 20 and whip out your Mastercard for the six-month trial.
