Following the funeral procession and the state funeral at National University of Singapore’s University Cultural Centre, Mandai Crematorium and Columbarium will be closed tomorrow afternoon to facilitate the private cremation service for the late Lee Kuan Yew.
According to a statement by the National Environment Agency (NEA), the public is not allowed into the crematorium from 1pm while the columbarium will be closed from 3pm.

Understandably, the annual Qing Ming Festival (also known as Tomb Sweeping Day where the Chinese tend to their family graves) kicks off this weekend, and the NEA has advised the public to avoid visiting the various columbariums and cemeteries during expected peak periods to avoid congestion.
