Man plunges to death after slashing elderly dad

The body of a 39-year-old man that was found at Blk 126 Geylang East Avenue 1 on Saturday evening has been found to be that of Ong Ah Tiong.

Ong, who lived in the sixth-storey flat with his 67-year-old father and 84-year-old mother, jumped to his death after reportedly slashing his father in their home. According to The New Paper, Ong had a history of mental illness and had been admitted to the Institute of Mental Health multiple times.

Hua Bong Sing, Ong’s father, told Shin Min Daily News that last Saturday he had asked his son to buy food from the shops below their flat but the latter flew into a rage and slashed him with a kitchen knife before leaping out of the kitchen window.

The police received a call for assistance at about 6.20pm and arrived to find Ong lying motionless at the bottom of the block, who paramedics pronounced dead on the scene.
