Racist elderly folks are akin to long queues for Hello Kitty products — both of which will always exist in Singapore. Encountering one such vexing auntie during a morning walk with his dog, CÉ LA VI resident DJ Sivanesh Pillai chose not to react in anger. Instead, he did something way better.
Some context first: Sivanesh was walking his dog to Bishan Park when an “old lady jogger” approached him and started accusing him of not picking up his dog’s poop. The thing is, the dog hadn’t even done a number two.
But the auntie continued to accuse Sivanesh of being an irresponsible dog owner, and the situation came to a weirdly racist apex when she called him a “very disgusting Indian man”.
The comment would have provoked even more hostility, but Sivanesh kept his cool. He replied:
“Actually aunty, it’s not my dog’s shit lah. Really not my dog’s. It’s actually mine…”
