Singaporean Jeremy Sim, who recently lost his wife Camella Fong to cancer, is setting up a fundraising event in her memory. One of her last wishes was to donate her belongings to charity, but instead he decided to donate his prized Star Wars memorabilia — which he had been collecting since young — and hold on to her belongings to keep the memory of her alive at home. Excuse us as we dab the sudden tears rolling down our cheeks right now.

Their tragic love story, which Sim shared on The Asian Parent, saw their meet-cute happen at work. He offered to send her home one day, even though she lived in the opposite direction, and the rest was history. They got married in December 2010 and their son was born 2015, but tough times struck a year later when Fong was diagnosed with neuroendocrine metastasis cancer.
The initial surgery was successful, but the rare cancer eventually spread to other areas of her body. Sadly, after celebrating Mother’s Day and their son’s second birthday this year, Fong was hospitalized for fever and shortness of breath. She passed away shortly after.
Recalling the memory of his dear wife, Sim described her as a “charitable person” who “believed in giving back to society” and whom many remembered as “a wonderful person”.
So if you’re keen to purchase Star Wars memorabilia for a good cause, the fundraising event will be held at the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention in Halls D to F at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Marina Bay Sands on Sept 9, 10am to 8pm. Each item will be tagged with a minimum price, but you’re welcome to donate more if you wish. All donations and proceeds will go towards the KKH Health Fund.
