A freak accident took the life of a 54-year-old lorry driver on Tuesday, when he was crushed by steel bars that fell from a forklift — and it’s all caught on tape.
The man was killed while he was preparing to load the steel bars onto the back of his lorry, around 10.40am at CWT Logistics Hub 3 in Tanjong Penjuru. He had been lowering the sideboards of the vehicle to let a forklift operator place two stacks of steel bars on the lorry bed, but one fell right on top of the him. The other stack dropped, too, but it’s unclear from the footage if it fell onto the collapsed man as well.
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) stated that the use of all forklift trucks has been stopped at the site, and a thorough inspection of the workplace will be conducted.
