It’s a five-month jail sentence for a man who was found guilty of threatening to leak his former girlfriend’s nudes.

Oh, and also for stealing a stingray from a fish farm.

Channel NewsAsia reported that the 28-year-old man — who was not named to protect the victim’s identity — pleaded guilty to one count of theft and criminal intimidation, and was slapped with the sentence yesterday in court.

Nine months before he tried to blackmail his ex-girlfriend with intimate photos of her, he went to a fish farm in Lim Chu Kang to help himself to two stingrays — one of which he paid for; the other he took without permission.

On Aug 23, 2017, he dropped by GML Aquatics to collect a stingray he arranged to purchase and had already placed a $50 deposit. When he arrived at the farm, he took a different stingray out of a tank, placed it in a plastic bag, and carried it to his car.

He then returned back to the farm and paid for the stingray he was supposed to buy. In the end, he left the farm with two stingrays for the price of one. It was only about four hours later that an employee realized that one had gone missing, and found out through CCTV footage that the customer had taken it. The stingrays were worth $250 each, reported CNA.

When confronted, the man simply returned the stolen fish at the farm’s gate. A police report was lodged, and the man eventually paid the farm owner the price of the stingray. It’s unclear if the stingray survived the journey.

The second crime he was found guilty of took place in May 2018, during a rocky period of time with his now former girlfriend. He had been in a relationship with a 22-year-old Malaysian woman and had nude pictures of each other on their phones. Though they had earlier agreed to delete all the intimate images, the man threatened to leak her nudes in an attempt to make her stay when she wanted to break up with him.

The man then sent edited photos of her that implied that she was partially nude in the pictures, which caused her to be anxious enough to report the matter to the police.
