Man sentenced to one year in jail for stabbing friend with ice pick

41-year-old Chng Kai Jie has been sentenced to a one-year jail term for stabbing 39-year-old Low Hang Poh with an ice pick earlier this year in June.

According to Channel NewsAsia, Chng attacked his friend at a HDB void deck in Ang Mo Kio when he suspected that Low had stolen his phone.

For assault, offenders can be jailed a maximum of seven years, fined or be caned.
