A couple weeks ago, a viral video made the rounds online. Showing a confrontation between a security guard and a Caucasian man, the clip taken at Roxy Square on Apr 4 portrayed the man growing more aggressive as the seconds ticked by. Even though the guard tried to be patient with the situation, the man eventually punched the guard hard enough to throw him on the ground.

Now, it seems the consequences have caught up to his actions. Identified as Stuart Boyd Mills, the 47-year-old British national and Singapore permanent resident was charged in court today for one count of voluntarily causing hurt and one count of intentionally harassing 60-year-old security supervisor, Andrew Lim, Channel NewsAsia reported.

The incident, which took place after midnight at 50 East Coast Road, escalated after Mills complained to a security guard that he could not locate an exit to leave the building, The Straits Times noted. Even though the guard attempted to explain that the main exit was locked since it was late, Mills did not listen and insisted on speaking to Lim, the supervisor.

Lim told ST that he explained there were other exits, but Mills apparently ignored his words. When Mills began behaving in a menacing manner, Lim told the guard to video the happenings. It was only when Lim was knocked to the ground after being punched that Mills fled the scene as the guard called the police. Lim was subsequently placed on medical leave.

Mills will return to court on May 15. If convicted, he could face a jail sentence of up to two years, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
