Amidst all the ongoing back and forth in Parliament regarding Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s family feud over his dad’s estate, one man must have thought to himself: “F*** it, we’ll do it live”.
And so he did, bringing along a sign demanding PM Lee to resign and a bullhorn for office workers and yuppies of Raffles Green to hear his resounding words.

His request for the PM to step down, however, was not prompted by the Oxley Road saga. He seemed to be accusing the Singapore leader of being involved in a conspiracy involving the Singapore Armed Forces’ Terrex armoured vehicles which, if you recall, had been detained in Hong Kong earlier this year under orders from Beijing. But that’s another story, which you can read all about here, here and here.
Anyway, such a blatant act of protest didn’t (and will never) go unnoticed by the authorities. The 41-year-old sign holder has since been arrested today at 12:53PM under the Public Order Act. After all, it is illegal in Singapore to hold public demonstrations without a valid permit from the authorities — and such protests can only be held at Speakers’ Corner anyway.
It’s unclear what conspiracy the lone protestor was referring to, but whatever it is, PM Lee has his hands full with other things than the safely-returned military vehicles right now.
