Mistakenly believing that his friend was asleep, a man sat by his side for an hour at a coffee shop before heading back home.
Turns out, the guy was dead.
The 56-year-old man reportedly died in his sleep at a coffee shop in Ang Mo Kio on Sunday afternoon, and folks only realized hours later that he actually passed away while he was slumped over on a table.
According to witnesses speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the deceased was a regular at the AMK 347 coffee shop, and he had arrived around 1pm before informing his friends that he just took some medication. The medicine was making him sleepy, he said, and he wanted to snooze for a bit.
A friend by the name of Goh came by around 4pm and sat at the table, but didn’t want to disturb the man, as he looked like he was sleeping. Around 5pm, Goh bought his meal and went home, totally unaware of his friend’s condition.
After realizing the man hadn’t moved for two to three hours, a coffee shop attendant went to check up on him — but he had already turned pale. The ambulance was called in around 5.37pm, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
How bizarre.
