A man stumbled upon a dead body whilst playing Pokémon Go this morning in Singapore.
“Early morning finding Pokemon. Suddenly find dead body. Rest in peace whoever you are. Seems like an old lady. Dont think it is due to Pokemon Go,” said Facebook user Azmi Suarez in a post in which he shared several photos of the poor corpse floating off Woodlands Waterfront Park.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed that they received a call this morning and found the body of a woman in the water, according to Tech In Asia.
“Before this I read news of things that happened overseas, such as people trespassing while playing the game, getting robbed, and finding dead bodies. I did not think it will happen in Singapore and to myself,” the young man, whose real name is Noor Azmi, told the tech blog.
Pokémon Go launched in Singapore on Saturday (Aug 6), as well as Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Palau and the Philippines.
The Singapore Police Force posted a PSA on their Facebook page after the launch, urging folks to be careful while gaming, not to walk into roads without looking, and to “educate your children to stranger-danger at Pokéstops.”
Sound advice.
