People do the darndest things when they’re drunk.
Zhang Quanfu had downed a mere five bottles of beer, but that was enough to embolden the Chinese national to call the police hotline and demand an audience with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
When told that he can kiss his dream goodbye, Zhang theatened to blow up the Parliament building and harm the First Family. “I immediately want you to get me a line through to the Prime Minister’s home…I will wipe out the whole family immediately,” he allegedly said, according to Channel NewsAsia.
Sad that he wasn’t going to get his wish, the construction worker, who was having drinks with friends at a Geylang restaurant, rang the police a second time using a friend’s phone and gave his details — his name, exact location and what he was wearing.
Of course Zhang was just talking cock, but since all threats are (and should be) taken seriously, “multiple police resources” were dispatched and security checks heightened around the country.
In court, Zhang said that he had no intention, nor capability, to carry on his threat and that he was deeply remorseful.
He has been handed a jail term of seven months for transmitting a false message containing a reference to the presence of a bomb or explosive, according to the report.
