Man drowns in Jurong Country Club pond in attempt to retrieve lost golf balls and sell them

A man’s endeavour to make a bit of money for himself took an oddly grim turn after he was found dead in a pond at Jurong Country Club last Saturday. Definitely not how he expected to shuffle off this mortal coil.

The 46-year-old man had trespassed into the country club and went over to the club’s pond to retrieve lost golf balls in the hopes to sell them, The New Paper reports. Alas, things obviously didn’t go the way it should have — his body was discovered in the morning by a course steward.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene as soon as Singapore Civil Defence Force officers retrieved his body from the pond.

Though the man’s death was by his own undertaking (and not to mention unlawful), Jurong Country Club was gracious enough to make an offer to contribute towards his funeral expenses, and hope that the deceased’s family members would contact them.

Police are currently investigating the case of unnatural death.
