A man was caught red-handed while allegedly attempting to film upskirt videos in Bishan MRT station yesterday afternoon, and apparently, he’s been carrying out the perverted acts for quite some time.
Upstanding citizen Fitri Hakim witnessed the shady suspect discretely attempting to take a video of an unsuspecting victim while standing behind her on the station escalator. “Managed to spot him from afar with his wallet covering a part of his phone screen which was already in video recording mode even before he went up the escalator,” Fitri wrote in a Facebook post, accompanied by pictures of the suspect and a clip of the man in the middle of his sick deed.
The suspect was handed over to a troop of Public Transport Security Command officers, who were pictured inspecting the man’s mobile phone. Fitri believes that the man has been at it for quite some time, judging from the way he responded to the confrontation.
For each count of insulting a woman’s modesty, the man could be sentenced to up to a year in jail and fined.
Upskirt video industry
There are a couple of platforms that voyeurs in Singapore use to trade and publish disgusting upskirt videos and images. The infamous Sammyboy Forum — where users congregate to discuss sexual escapades and share lewd content — is one, while Google groups have been formed for pervs to download obscene films, including upskirt clips caught in Singapore.
Surprisingly, Tumblr is another big platform where upskirt videos are published and reblogged repeatedly. A cursory search for “upskirt” and “Singapore” on the site results in dozens of clips filmed around the island.
