The culprit behind the major oil spillage at Paterson Road that reportedly shut down traffic along Orchard for more than 12 hours last Thursday has been caught, and he won’t be able to slip away this time.
A 53-year-old male driver has been arrested for his suspected involvement in causing the oil spillage after Traffic Police managed to identify him through extensive investigations. He was swiftly traced and arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint at 3pm on the same day.
The troubles that he caused from the oil spillage was massive: the road between Orchard Road and Orchard Boulevard had to be closed off as the slippery stretch was unsafe for use. Due to its central location, heavy traffic ensued throughout the day, affecting many commuters and motorists who travel by the affected road. The Land Transport Authority even had to convert a portion of Paterson Road to a two-way road to ease the traffic.
The driver was placed under arrest for causing hurt by negligent act, and if convicted, he is liable for imprisonment for up to 6 months and/or a fine of up to $2,500. We’re sure that there’s an inordinate amount of people who’d like to see him punished.
