Here’s yet another case of a person being arrested for leaving a luggage bag unattended at an MRT station – the fourth one in three months. On Wednesday (June 7), a 34-year-old man was arrested for leaving his luggage bag unattended at the bicycle bay of Admiralty MRT station. Before this, two men were arrested for the same thing at Aljunied MRT station in April, and another similar situation caused Hougang MRT station to be temporarily shut down.

The man reportedly left his bag to head to the convenience store, and police were alerted to the case around 8.45am. With the help of SMRT staff, officers from Jurong Police Division and the Public Transport Security Command tracked down the owner of the bag and arrested him for causing public nuisance. The bag was found to contain clothes, toiletries and medication.

In a news release, the police reminded the public to be aware of leaving personal belongings unattended, and to report suspicious items or behavior to MRT staff or the police immediately.
