The 3.2km Siglap Canal is set to undergo a makeover under the Public Utilities Board’s (PUB) Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme, announced Mr. Tan Chuan-Jin, Acting Minister for Manpower and Advisor for Marine Parade GRC, at a groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 19.
When the project completes in 2015, the new canal will feature additional seating spaces, enhanced greenery and a rain garden — designed to improve overall water quality by discharging stormwater into the waterway.
Residents will also have better access to the Kampong Kembangan community club via the community deck built over the canal.
