Another day, another train service delay. Commuters on both the North South Line (NSL) and the East West Line (EWL) got their travel time significantly delayed when track faults hit the SMRT train services yesterday.
The first occurrence transpired around 2.54pm, where travellers on the EWL were left stranded for a moment when train services between Pasir Ris and Tampines stations halted in both directions. The track fault ceased train operations for 20 minutes, and resumed later on at a slower pace, adding 10 minutes in travelling time.
The more frustrating service disruption took place later on at 7.20pm during the evening rush hour — this time hitting the NSL. A train fault at Braddell station slowed down train services to an excruciatingly sluggish motion, adding 25 minutes travel time from Marina Bay to Ang Mo Kio station. It was only at 8.33 that train services resumed to normal pace.
To the credit of SMRT, bus services were provided during both the train delays yesterday. But something tells us that they’re pretty frustrated with the delays too…
