A man had all the stars and planets aligned in his favor when he was rescued from his garbage truck, which had been dangling precariously from a height of three stories.

It’s unclear how the accident happened in the first place, but the Sembcorp truck apparently went over a railing of an incineration complex in Senoko, leaving the driver’s cabin and its front tires hanging in mid-air.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) informed The Straits Times that they were alerted to the scene at 30 Attap Valley about 7:20pm last night. The perilous state of the garbage truck meant that SCDF officers had to rescue the trapped driver using an aerial rescue platform, which presumably plucked the man out to safety.

Here’s how we imagine the rescue operation must have been like — a literal cliffhanger:

“No one was injured in the incident, however the driver was conveyed to the hospital for observation,” assured a Sembwaste spokesman in a statement to The Straits Times.

“At this point it is not clear how the incident occurred. We are investigating the matter and will be working with the authorities in this regard as well.”
