LTA to place CCTVs in 5 bus stops

Here’s another reason to smile for the (CCTV) cameras.

Five bus stops will be outfitted with close-circuit televisions to help the Land Transport Authority monitor the number of passengers waiting for a ride.

If it sees that there’s a big impatient crowd, LTA will give public transport operators a nudge so they can send buses to the sites pronto.

This system even has a sexy name (at least to our techie ears): video analytics.

The year-long trial kicks off in December. These are the chosen bus stops, as reported by Channel NewsAsia: Thong Teck Building along Scotts Road; Blk 270, Bukit Panjang Road; Ang Mo Kio MRT Station, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3; opposite Khatib MRT Station, Yishun Avenue 2; and Clementi MRT Station,  Commonwealth Avenue West.
