LTA launching three City Direct bus services linking heartlands to CBD this month

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will launch three new bus services, linking the heartlands to the Central Business District (CBD), later in February.

West Coast City Direct Service 655 and Sembawang City Direct Service 656 will commence operations on Feb. 17, while Jurong East City Direct Service 657 will begin on Feb. 24.

Each bus service will start with two one-way trips to the CBD on weekday mornings and two one-way trips back to the heartlands in the evening. LTA says this excludes public holidays and that they may add more trips if there is high demand.

This may not cut a huge chunk out of your total travelling time, but will definitely make commute more convenient considering the full use of expressways and that you don’t have to hop-off-hop-on the bus and MRT.

Service 655 will travel along Teban Gardens Road, Pandan Gardens and West Coast Road before taking the West Coast Highway en route to the CBD.

Service 656 covers Canberra Road, Admiralty Link, Sembawang Drive and Sembawang Avenue before heading towards Orchard Road, Bras Basah Road and Shenton Way via the Seletar Expressway (SLE) and Central Expressway (CTE).

Service 657 will ply Jurong West Ave 1, Jurong East Ave 1 and Toh Guan Road, before heading towards Robinson Road and Marina Boulevard via the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE).

The three City Direct bus services come under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP). Commuters can expect three more City Direct bus services from Bedok, Eunos and Hougang Hougang to the CBD in the third quarter of 2014.
