Lots of nostalgic feels about IT mall Funan DigitaLife closing tonight after 31 years

Thanks for the memories, Funan DigitaLife Mall. For 31 years, the six-storey shopping centre on North Bridge Road tirelessly dedicated its life to delivering electronics and IT goods to the people of Singapore. But all things must come to an end, and today marks the last day of operations for the mall, which will soon be transformed into an ‘experiential creative hub’ — whatever that means — by CapitaLand Mall Trust Management over the next three years.

In its heyday 10 to 15 years ago, the mall was a bustling place, before IT fairs and online shopping came around to draw the attention of younger customers.

But now, as everyone begins the process of moving out, cardboard boxes abound in the building, and clearance sales have been going on since April, with shops emptying out more than half their shelves. Most of them plan to relocate their businesses — but before that, a goodbye celebration for tenants will be held at 6.30pm today, and the mall will stay open until 11pm for the public to bid farewell to Funan forever.
