FYI, parking lots at shopping malls with the distinctive label of “Family” are meant for, you know, actual families. And definitely not for rich folks who just want to park their shiny rides as close as possible to lift lobbies.

Right when tensions are rife about the socioeconomic status shenanigans that popped up in a social studies guidebook recently, here comes an individual who really upped the ante by showing how the Singaporean elite may think and behave. In a post by one Daniel Choo on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, he recounted a recent brush with an apparently wealthy lady who thought nothing of parking her flashy Mini Cooper on a parking lot reserved for cars with families inside. Choo himself was traveling with his wife and three kids — and definitely deserves the spot — but one inconsiderate lady just had to cut into the space.

“What (infuriates) me most is the way she provoked me by saying ‘I got money to burn. Everyone here knows I’m rich, I’ve got 3 cars.’” Choo wrote, when he caught her defiant, arrogant mannerisms on video. When told that she was being inconsiderate, she agreed, not giving a damn whatsoever. Lady even whipped out a keychain that seemed to hold a couple of car keys, bless her humble heart.

“It’s not about the money here, I don’t pay more or pay less if I park in the family lot. But I’ve been waiting there for a vacant lot, and she just (drove) pass and park right in as if she (didn’t) see me there waiting.”

The matter was resolved later on after a security guard was called in. Following some critical voices about Choo’s own apparent sense of entitlement, the man clarified that his intention for the post was to highlight the importance of family lots for actual families who need the extra space to navigate with prams or wheelchairs.

“We just want people to know the importance of family lots to someone who needs it more than just anyone who is driving alone,” he wrote.

“And also because she’s so rude, her reply about her being rich makes me feel like she’s looking down on those poor citizens which is uncalled for.”

In a separate but similar incident involving flashy cars, parking spaces, and wealthy ladies who DGAF, a 72-year-old Ferrari driver was slapped with four weeks in jail and a six-month driving ban for punching a motorist over a traffic dispute.
