We love a good night stand. It’s a great place for putting a lamp, an alarm clock, or that book you’re never going to finish. One night stands? They’ve also got their place. We’re not prudes here at Coconuts Singapore. However, we’d only expect to get one of those things at a furniture store.
Turns out most netizens feel the same way, because local retailer Picket&Rail’s recent newspaper ad offering a “free one night stand” is definitely earning a few laughs.
Technically, it’s not entirely free, as you have to first purchase a Mission II Solidwood Queen Bed, though now that we think of it, the bed might come in handy.
The ad was posted in all its glory on the Legit Singapore Facebook page this morning, where netizens were quick to pile on.
Moral of the story? All it takes is one word to throw off your entire message. We think this Facebook commenter might have said it best.
Given that the brand bills itself as “thinking people’s furniture,” we’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt but … no. Don’t feel bad though, Picket&Rail, this isn’t the first, nor will it be the last, time that a marketing flub up has caused a bit of embarrassment.
Heck, this probably isn’t even the best marketing mishap in the past week. Right, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf?
