Recent dashcam footage taken by an unnamed cabbie showed a man riding a tiny electric scooter along the road shoulder of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway tunnel. Captured at 12.43am on Friday (June 23) and uploaded on the Roads.sg Facebook page on Saturday, the video drew criticism from netizens over the e-scooter user’s dangerous act.
According to the taxi driver, the rider was seen “cutting across Upper Paya Lebar exit” after he was out of view from the camera.
FYI, personal mobility devices like e-scooters, skateboards and hoverboards aren’t allowed on roads. If you’re found riding these devices on the roads, you can be fined $2,000 and be jailed for up to three months for your first offence, according to the Road Traffic Act. Subsequent offences will get you fined up to $5,000 and jailed for six months.
According to The Straits Times, the police are aware of the incident and have advised those with information to file a police report so they can conduct further investigations.
