LionsXII set to play Indonesian tour to prepare for MSL season

Now that the Under-23 team is ready to return, bearing their bronze medal from the SEA Games, LionsXII coach Fandi Ahmad can launch into his prep fo the Malaysian Super League (MSL) season, which starts Jan. 17.

The team will take a short break before playing a three-match tour in Yogyakarta, so that the players can “have a feel of competition before the MSL begins”, according to the newly-appointed coach.

He said, “Matches in Indonesia are always intense affairs. (They) draw big crowds, which are sometimes very vocal, too. It will be good for us.”

Fandi has also revealed he is looking to add another attacking midfielder to the squad breakdown, which was recently announced by the Football Association of Singapore.

Singapore will open their MSL season with an away game with Pahang, for the season’s traditional curtain-raiser Charity Shield.
