Lion dance troupe, bus passengers unite to push aside overturned lorry blocking traffic

In the spirit of “Huat ah!” a troupe of lion dancers led a cluster of motorists to lend a helping hand in the middle of a traffic jam — by moving an overturned lorry that had been blocking the lanes to the Bukit Panjang Expressway (BKE).

Netizen Nithi Ram captured the incident on his mobile phone and uploaded footage to his Facebook page, in which a lion dance group rushed to the scene of the accident. According to Nithi, the heavy rain caused a lorry to skid and overturn on the Zhenghua Flyover, blocking traffic at the Bukit Panjang entrance to the BKE towards PIE at 6pm yesterday.

On the way to volunteer for River Hong Bao, I encountered an accident at Zhenghua Flyover, Bukit Panjang entrance to BKE towards PIE around 6 pm. Many people ran down to lend a helping hand to clear the accident. Apparently, the accident was caused due to the heavy rain and this caused a lorry to skid and it got overturned which blocked both the lanes that lead to BKE. Traffic Police arrived at the scene. Following this, a lion dance group, were also stuck at the jam. The lion dancers and commuters from Bus Service 960 and 972 ran down from their vehicles to help push the overturned lorry, to allow the traffic to pass through. My Brother Arunraj Ram also left the car to offer a helping hand .They managed to push the lorry, within minutes. Who knows? If everyone was Self-Centred, the traffic jam would have lasted a Long time to be cleared.

A lion dance group, where were commuters on bus services 960 and 972, refused to stay put and wait it out. They got down on the road and lent a helping hand. United by the will to get to their destinations on time, they successfully pushed it to the side within minutes, allowing traffic to pass through.

“Who knows? If everyone was Self-centred, the traffic jam would have lasted a long time to be cleared,” Nithi wrote on his Facebook post.
