Line dancing in Singapore with aunties and uncles [VIDEO]

Ah, line dancing — the preferred sport of Singapore’s old aunties, uncles and retirees in general. Facing a resurgence in the ’90s due to then-popular-but-now-cringy country music hit “Achy Breaky Heart (damn you Billy Ray Cyrus), line dancing shot into mainstream consciousness from the dusty bars of North Carolina to the suburbs of Singapore.

This year the Country Line Dancing Association of Singapore turned 15 and they celebrated with grand country jam, complete with en masse boogies, flannel shirts, cover bands, southern accents… and an 8-course Chinese dinner. Of course, Coconuts TV had to be there to say our howdy-dos when this small enclave in Southeast Asia turned into Main Street, USA.
