Following the nearly 4,000-word disquisition summarising Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s concern with the veracity of his father’s last will, his siblings and nephew have since fired back with their own statements, accusations and even an e-mail leak. Exciting stuff.
In case you missed it last night, PM Lee issued an extensive statement clarifying his side of the story in the conflict regarding what to do with Lee Kuan Yew’s house at 38 Oxley Road. Most of it details the series of events that caused him to question how his father’s will was changed, especially the part about the demolition of the house. The PM also question the motives of his brother Lee Hsien Yang and his sister-in-law Lee Suet Fern, who had a hand in preparing the will.
But then, a plot twist. Hsien Yang shot back this morning, denying that his wife’s law firm — Stamford Law Corporation — had anything to do with the will.
As for PM Lee’s sister Dr Lee Wei Ling, her gripe lies with her brother and his wife Ho Ching allegedly tried to play her out in letting her have the right to stay at 38 Oxley Road. It was Suet Fern who fought back and won the rights back for her, she claims. Dr Lee even leaked an email thread as proof:
As for Hsien Yang’s son (and PM Lee’s nephew) Li Shengwu, he had harsher words to say about the ongoing public tiff among his family members. Clearly, Shengwu’s not siding with his uncle.
And the rigmarole goes on.
