The man who was the subject of a viral, horrifying clip has been arrested by police yesterday (July 5) for committing an act of outrage of modesty on an MRT train.
The video had been uploaded and made its rounds on Facebook last Saturday (July 1), sparking outrage among netizens. Some netizens had questioned why the individual filming didn’t stop the man, while others applauded her for capturing the incident. “It was later clarified that the video-taker did ask the victim to stand up and move away from the man. The victim didn’t stand up, but she scooted closer to her friend sitting beside her. It was only after her friend slapped the guy’s hand that the creep alighted at the next station.
According to a Facebook post by Hougang NPC, the man was arrested yesterday following a tip off was received from a member of public. Officers acted on the information quickly and combed the vicinity of Hougang Central, where the man was located and subsequently detained. Investigations are underway.
