Last week of March to provide some relief from scorching heat with expected thundery showers

Surprised by the very long rainstorm yesterday? Yeah, us too. But it’s a very welcome relief from the scorching hot afternoons across the country in the past week, and according to the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), we could expect a couple more days of heavy rain over the next couple of days.

MSS explained that the sudden arrival of heavy thundery showers is due to the northward shifting of monsoon rain band over Singapore and the surrounding equatorial region. Technical stuff, but what it means is that we can expect localized moderate to heavy rain over the next few afternoons, which could even extend into the evening.

It seems like the last week of March will see some wildly fluctuating weather. MSS expects widespread thundery showers with occasional gusty winds on one or two mornings next week.

Let’s look at the four-day outlook, shall we?

But as always, take it all in with a pinch of salt — it’s very hard to accurately predict the weather. On days with little to no rainfall, expect it to be blazing hot as usual with the possibility of temperatures hitting up to 35°C.
