A pipe leak that occurred in the early hours of this morning resulted in vehicle lanes along Somerset Road temporarily closed to traffic. National water agency PUB confirmed that it received a report about the leak around 12:40am, and dispatched service crew and contractors to the area near TripleOne Somerset, in front of an open Urban Redevelopment Authority carpark.

According to The Straits Times, police officers were seen directing traffic along the road at about 2am. Portions of the road were fragmented and appeared sunken, while water was flowing out on one side of the road.

In a Facebook post at 6:41am, PUB notified the public about the situation, explaining that the leak was isolated and repair work was ongoing. Three out of the four lanes along Somerset Road were closed to traffic.

In their second update at 7:59am, PUB said that one out of the four lanes remained shut, and advised motorists to drive carefully or take alternative routes.

If you spot any pipe leaks in your area, you can inform PUB by dialling 1800-2255-782 for its 24-hour call centre.
