If you think 33 people getting food poisoning after eating Kuisine Catering’s grub was already bad, it’s about to get worse — nearly a hundred more have come out to report the very same thing.
Kuising Catering got some bad press last week after it was revealed that 33 guests of a birthday party came down with vomiting and diarrhoea the next day.
Thirty-three out of the 34 guests had eaten from the buffet prepared by the catering company — the individual who didn’t get food poisoning ate only the birthday cake.
The Straits Times, however, have discovered about dozens more who were unreported, which now brings the total number of eaters allegedly down with Kuisine-induced ailments to about 130.
This despite the company claiming that they’ve earned the A grade from the National Environmental Agency (NEA) “for many years.” The company even won the title of Best Buffet Caterer in the Restaurant Association of Singapore’s Epicurean Star Award last year.
Kuisine Catering’s allegedly tainted food hit multiple gatherings in the past few weeks. Over 20 folks fell ill after a Chinese New Year gathering at Choa Chu Kang, with two needing to be warded in hospital and be put on drip. Lianhe Wanbao reports another 70 or so people at three different parties getting hit with food poisoning after eating dishes prepared by the caterer.
One such case saw Kuisine delivering food such as cereal prawns, chicken curry and beancurd too late and cold, and they did not provide the mandatory time stamps or the “consume by” signs. Folks theorise that they took on too many orders during the festive period, and probably prepared the food too early — thus why it turned bad by the time they were delivered.
Their office at Jurong Food Hub had their shutters down when reporters visited the premises. Three whole government agencies — the NEA, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, and the Ministry of Health — are currently investigating the case.
